| Since
1969 Yves Lebreton has been dedicating himself to the creation of
a corporeal theatre that is centred on the actors physical
presence. In a complete break away from the tradition of literary
theatre, he lays claim to a theatre of action, movement and image,
in which the actor is simultaneously both author and the interpreter.
"No text, no direction, no scenery can replace the physical
presence of the actor without consequently destroying the fundamentals
of theatrical art. The theatre is not an annex to litterature, nor
a collage or a synthesis of the arts within the perspective of a
total work, but a unique moment of encounter between
the public coming to see and the actors giving themself to be seeing.
To see that which cannot be heard: a living expression in which
the actors body reveals the subtle inner landscape of thought
and feeling Only the acting body can justified the actors
state of being and giving truth to the word. The body is the essence
of theatre.
